Hello, dear dragons.
It's been a while. Nearly two years since my last post to announce the webtoon's launch, and nearly four since the series concluded on Royal Road. It's crazy how much things have changed since then.
During those years, I've regularly received messages asking about the fate of the last Vainqueur audiobook; the four volume series has been left incomplete for a while, mostly because its narrator Jack Voraces was fully booked with recording Apocalypse Tamer.
After a very long struggle, I'm happy to announce that Audible has finally, finally made the audiobook available. A preorder is now open, with the audiobook itself being released on March 19th.

I admit I'm relieved. Vainqueur's publication history has been a tumultuous journey. A full webtoon had time to be released until the audio series could conclude, and I've completed four or five other series since. Crazy how fast time flies by.
Otherwise, now that the final audiobook is finally about to hit the shelves... I've decided to go through with a difficult decision I have been considering for some time.
Namely, I will soon put Vainqueur on Kindle Unlimited. Likely on April 1st, with a final crossover chapter in partnership with some other authors.
I've gone through the reasons in other posts, but basically, they're the same ones that caused me to put Never Die Twice on KU: everyone who wanted to read the story already has; it's slowly losing visibility; and the LitRPG market on KU (which is currently rather profitable) is slowly getting overcrowded. This story has been stolen from Royal Road. If you read it on Amazon, please report it
Basically, when Vainqueur came out years ago, it manager to reach as high as the third place of Best Rated and stayed on the front page for a while. Years later, it's now ranked 31st and slowly slipping down the first page. It's no more among the top 5 completed, which secures visibility on mobile devices on the site's front page, and it's likely to disappear completely within a year's time. That's just erosion at work.
I feel that those who wished to read the story on this website already have; and those who didn't have pirated it (and its webtoon) to death already. Moreover, the Vainqueur Webtoon hasn't been renewed by Tapas, so it has no way to regain a surge of new viewership short of me writing a sequel or spinoff. It's likely that Vainqueur will soon suffer NDT's fate and fall by the wayside.
KU, however, is currently the biggest LitRPG market. I've kept Vainqueur off it for years because I wanted to keep at least a few of my works on RR, since I feel I owe the website a lot and it holds a special place in my heart. I love the Royal Road community.
But unfortunately, KU is so profitable right now that it's slowly getting overcrowded. Launching anything there nowadays requires competing with juggernauts like Primal Hunter of DCC; not to mention tomorrow's new series. The more I wait to put Vainqueur there, the harder the time it will have to find its place on the platform. That market is simply heading towards saturation. Truthfully, I'm probably a bit too late putting Vainqueur there. Sad as it sounds, finished series don't bring new patrons. Few people pay for what they've already read for free.
Hence... I feel it's best to help the series find new audiences. KU is a wholly different crowd, and Vainqueur moving there would help it get a second wind; or at least I hope so.
Moreover, I've been able to use the funds of my KU series to secure new initiatives, like the development of a Perfect Run game or Webtoon-related projects. It's my hope that Vainqueur going to KU will not only give it a second breath (pun intended), but also let me gather resources for more ambitious projects.
In any case, I hope you will understand my decision and that you had a blast reading Vainqueur all the way to this moment. It feels like yesterday since I was writing the adventures of His Majesty and his proud minion in ways that satirized the LitRPG genre. Vainqueur was my first hit, and I retain fond memories of its original runs. You guys were awesome for supporting it, enough that it became one of the first western LitRPGs to get a webtoon adaptation. It's been a ride.
I'll likely post twice in the near future; once on the Audiobook's release date, and then on April 1st for the final crossover chapter. Most chapters will likely have been taken down by March 31st, so if you want to binge read Vainqueur one last time on RR, this month would be the time.
I wish you all a great day, and I hope you'll enjoy this big red dragon's last rodeo.
Best regards,
Voidy.
